Computer hardware is usually very reliable and doesn’t easily fail, the only way something usually happens is "human error".


Q1: What do I do if my computer starts making weird beeping sounds?

A1: One of your components may be faulty or not connected properly, the computer might say which component isn't working if there is just a blank screen it might be the processor.

Q2: Why can't i hear sound from my speakers if the computer is playing the music?

A2: Your sound card may be faulty or not connected properly it may also not be installed. Check all connections from the sound card to your speakers. Your speakers may also be faulty or not plugged in.

Q3: What do i do if one of my components is faulty?

A3: you must replace the faulty component, never try to fix it because if you try to put a "fixed" component back into the computer you may damage more components.

Q4: What do i do if my computer says "operating system not found"?

A4: Your hard drive may not be connected or it may also be faulty due to dirt, dust, excessive head etc. The operating system files may also be damaged or non-existent. Check all connections and try reinstalling the operating system.

Q5: What happens when my computer is making "excessive" noise?

A5: Your fan might be faulty, your hard drive may be faulty, your Floppy/CD/DVD drive may be faulty. Disconnect things to try to isolate the sound and determine the faulty component.

Q6: How can i check the specifications on my computer?

A6: If you're running windows right click on "My Computer" and select properties. You can also go to www.syschk.com to download their system information diagnostic utility program.

Q7:  What do i do if my computer doesn't power on?

A7: The power supply may be faulty, the on/off switch may be faulty, the computer is not plugged in, the wall outlet may be faulty.

Q8: What do i do if my CD/DVD drive doesn’t open?

A8: The internal drive belt may be broken or not on the pulleys, the gears may be broken, the drive is not plugged into the motherboard, the drive motor is faulty.

Q9: What do i do if my computer's case doesn't open?

A9: Make sure all screws are off before you try to open the case, then try to lift and pull out the case at the same time, not all cases use screws to hold them together.

Q10: What do i do if my power light or hard drive light doesn't work?

A10: Make sure the lights are plugged into the motherboard, the light bulbs may be faulty.
